Film Is Back!

A recent NY Times article came out, and it’s got us all talking. Click here to read Just When You Got Digital Technology, Film Is Back.

I looked up the Lomography product line as a result of reading this article, and after speaking with some CE photo staff and friends, they confirmed that many “hipster” friends are really getting into using film cameras. Welcome back, film!

One reason for the surge in popularity is the relative simplicity of the Lomography camera line, and their innovative bodies. Their Sprocket Rocket line already caught our attention (see our NYIP article on 7 New Cameras – Which Is Your Favorite?)

On May 9, Continuing Education’s hard-working students received their Certificates of Completion at a special reception in recognition and celebration of their academic achievement.

Dean of Continuing Studies Erin Elman conveys her accolades to the assembled students, their families and friends.

Certificates were awarded to students who completed their course of study in Communication Design, Web Design, Web Design + Development, as well as Portfolio Development and Digital Photography.

The Holga is an inexpensive 120 film plastic camera made in China. It has a problem producing quality photos which has attracted many photographers to add this camera to their array of equipment and many of the photographs produced have received lots of attention for their distorted look. There are many variations of the Holga camera from the 120S with its fixed shutter speed and plastic lens to the 120GFCN with its color flash and glass lens. Once you see some of the photos people have produced with the it, you may be convinced to buy one of these cheap toy cameras to play around with seriously.

Leading technology firm offers two $2,500 scholarships for adult students

Destiny Solutions, the leading innovator of lifelong learning business solutions, announced that applications are being accepted for the annual Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship.

Named in honor of the late Director of the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto, Dr. Mary Cone Barrie, the scholarship is awarded annually to two non-traditional students.
